Â
Series History: Notre Dame is a perfect 11-0 against Wheeling in a series dating back to 2011. Â
Â
Noting the Falcons: The last time Notre Dame had back-to-back tied regular-season games was 2016 when, also early in the season, NDC tied its third and fourth games of the season to start 2-0-2. The Falcons won their next two games, including one against Wheeling, and went on to finish 14-2-4 and make the NCAA DII Tournament. Notre Dame also tied its two MEC Tournament games, and won both with penalty kicks. Two of the ties that season also came against West Liberty, who tied NDC this year as well. Prior to that, NDC tied two games in a row in 2010 and won its first game of decision that season. This is the first time Notre Dame has tied three-straight times.
Â
Noting the Cardinals: Wheeling has not been able to get much going this season, being outscored 31-3 in 2019. In their last three games, the Cardinals have been outscored 23-0, including 13-0 in their two MEC games. All three of the Wheeling goals have been scored by Kenadee Burgoyne.Â
Â
Noting the Bobcats: Frostburg State started off its first season at the NCAA Division II level 0-2-1, but quickly turned things around with a 6-2 win against Urbana and a 7-0 win against Wheeling to start MEC play. The Bobcats' lone tie came against former MEC program Shepherd in 1-1 fashion. Eleven of FSU's 15 goals have come from two players. Sophomore Audra Curtin leads the team with six scores while senior Brooke Shehade is second with five. Both players also have multiple assists.
