SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – The seniors on the Notre Dame College men's rugby team were honored prior to their game with No. 8 Davenport University, on Sunday. NDC, who was ranked 12th in D1A Rugby, battled back to take the lead in the contest, but the game ended in a 19-19 draw on Mueller Field.
Notre Dame entered the contest looking to pull off an upset over Davenport, as they had against Army earlier in the month. The Panthers were coming off an upset win against Penn State.
As reported by Alex Goff of GoffRugbyReport.com, Davenport wasted little time scoring first on a penalty goal and then crossed the line for a try, giving the visitors a 10-0 advantage.
DU entered the locker room with a 13-0 lead over the Falcons, after 40 minutes of play.
The Falcons' halftime adjustments worked, as they converted early and often. NDC put together a 19-3 run, including 12 unanswered points, and grabbed a 19-16 advantage.
Nearing the end of regulation, Davenport worked the ball far enough down the field and found success with their fourth kick of the day to tie the game at 19.
Andrew Guerra,
Michael Yeboah,
Calum Haddock had the tries for Notre Dame, while
Archie Paterson finished with two conversions.
NDC will travel to play the University of Mary Washington on November 9. The matches are scheduled to begin at 1 and 3 p.m.
