Men's rugby drops road game against No. 7 Kutztown

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Notre Dame College men's rugby team traveled to Kutztown University on Saturday, October 19. Both teams entered the contest ranked in D1A, with NDC ranked 11th and Kutztown sitting at 7th, in the nation.

The Falcons played a tough Kutztown side and the first half of the game was mostly defense for the NDC. Kutztown plays a difficult defensive scheme, where their goal is to strip the ball out of the runners' arms. When the Falcons did have possession, it was eventually stripped out of their hands.

In the second half, the Falcons came to life and scored 17 straight points. At the end of the day, it wasn't enough to win the game. The final score was 47-22 in favor of Kutztown. The try scorers were Sean Woods, Jarrod Stewart, Mark Mutuku and Fadzai Mushonga.

Notre Dame is now 12th in the latest D1A rankings.

Next Sunday, at 1 p.m., Notre Dame will be playing at home against No. 8 Davenport University. This will be a big day for men's rugby as it is a recruiting day and Senior Day. Davenport, who was ranked 14th last week, is coming off an upset win against No. 9 Penn State. The Falcons currently sit in third place in the Rugby East Conference and still have a chance at making the playoffs.
