PAINESVILLE, Ohio – On Friday evening, No. 3 Notre Dame College traveled to battle Lake Erie College on the mat. The Falcons used five pins, including three straight to close out the meet, in a 45-3 victory over the Storm.
Notre Dame has increased their record to 6-1 in duals, on the season. The Falcons have not allowed an opponent to reach double-digit points in a dual meet since January 5 at the National Duals. Lake Erie, who received eight votes in the latest NWCA Poll, has lost their last three dual meets.
The Falcons grabbed six points after a forfeit in the 125 lbs. matchup.
Hunter Bray, at 133, and
David Bavery, at 141, each won by decision over Forrest Glogouski and Andrew Lieb, respectively.
In his first bout since January 4 against Wisconsin-Parkside,
Jose Rodriguez returned with a pin at the 1:56-mark against Alexander Lieb at 149 lbs.
After a close overtime loss at 157, Notre Dame went on a tear.
Jashon Hubbard pinned Sean O'Hearon and
Cornell Beachem Jr. held onto win by decision at 174.
At 184,
Tony Vezzetti slid back into his slot after sitting out since January 4. He pinned Jesse Palser.
Logan Hall (3:31) and
Kameron Teacher (1:08) each won via fall as NDC earned 18 points in the final three weight classes.
The Falcons will wrestle next Saturday, February 2, against Davenport University. The road dual meet will begin at 1 p.m.
