Matthew Kaufmann and
Parker Moore were both recognized. (
Release)
Kaufmann earns the fourth Academic All-America honor of his collegiate career, as he also was given the award in 2021, 2022 and 2023. Along with those awards, he has also been the Mountain East Conference Freshman of the Year and a three-time All-MEC member in his time with the Falcons. This season at the conference championships, Kaufmann took second place at 157 lbs., the highest that he had ever finished at the MEC event. He then had a very tough bracket to fight through in the Super Regional III Tournament. He still wrestled back to the Third-Place Match and took fourth place in the region.
Moore has earned Academic All-America honors for the second time. In his collegiate career, Moore has one All-MEC honor, for taking second place at 141 lbs. at the 2023 MEC Championships. This past winter, he wrestled in the MEC Championship at 149 and took fourth place. He and Kaufmann both helped the Falcons grab a 28-24 upset victory over No. 16 Grand Valley State. Moore won via decision at 149, while Kaufmann won with a pin at 157.
In order for a student-athlete to be nominated to the Division II Scholar All-American Team, he must have a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale, with that benchmark at 3.25 for those who qualified for the 2024 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships and a 3.0 for those who were All-Americans at the 2024 Nationals. Wrestlers must have competed in four dates of competition. Both Kaufmann and Moore are education majors.
