Women's soccer plays in two MEC games this week

This week: Notre Dame College plays Urbana at home today, September 26, at 4 p.m. before traveling to Concord on Sunday, September 30, for a 1 p.m.

Records: The Falcons are 2-4, 2-1 MEC after an overtime victory against Wheeling Jesuit last week. Urbana is 2-4, 1-2 MEC while Concord is 4-2-1, 2-1 MEC.

Coaches Corner: Mike Shiels is in his 14th season as the head coach for the Falcons. During his time at NDC, Shiels has gone 156-99-18 with a 64-10-7 MEC record. Kevin Mounce is in his fourth year at Urbana and holds a 14-38-6, 12-32-6 MEC record. Luke Duffy is in his third season and currently has a record of 21-22-8, 15-17-6 MEC.

Rankings: None of the teams received votes in the September 18 United State Soccer Coaches Poll.

Series History: NDC has won all 11 contests in its series against Urbana dating back to 2011. The Falcons hold a 9-1-1 record against Concord.

Noting the Falcons: Both victories for NDC this season have come in overtime with a 1-0 win against West Liberty and a 2-1 win against Wheeling Jesuit. After starting the season 0-3, the Falcons have won two of their last three competitions.

Noting the Blue Knights: Urbana is just one win away from tying its win total from a year ago. And just six games into the season, the Blue Knights should pass that mark by the end of the year. But both wins in 2018 have come at home. Urbana is 0-3 on the road and will face a Falcon squad they have yet to defeat.

Noting the Mountain Lions: After four games, Concord leads the Mountain East Conference with 28 goals, averaging four goals per game. Only three teams in the MEC average more than three goals, but neither of the other two come close to CU's four, with the next closest team at a 3.17 mark. The Mountain Lions spread the ball out well as eight of their players have score multiple goals this season.
