Series History: The Falcons are 7-29 against Walsh all time after suffering two losses to the Cavaliers in Florida this season. NDC is 11-8 against West Liberty as the teams have been playing since the MEC's first season in 2014.

Noting the Falcons: Notre Dame is riding a three-game winning streak heading into today's game. Last week the Falcons won their three games by a total score difference of 25-6. Adam Purdy had a standout weekend with seven hits, six runs, three RBIs, two home runs and three stolen bases. Pitcher Kenny Pierson also did well in his second start of the season as he threw in six of the seven innings against Wesleyan in Notre Dame's 17-0 victory. Pierson leads the Falcons with an ERA of 1.93 and is now 2-0. So far this season, the Falcons have shone in fifth inning, outscoring opponents 21-12. NDC struggles the most in the third inning, as the team has been outscored 34-8 this season in the third.

Noting the Cavaliers: Walsh has won six of its last eight games. Much of their success on the offensive end is due to Eric Conner who is hitting .412 this season with 40 hits in 97 at bats. Conner has scored 19 runs and batted in 24 others. About a third of his hits this season have been for extra bases. The Cavaliers boast a sophomore duo of Andrew Czech and Avery Janning who are each holding onto a batting averages above .340. Combined, the two have recorded 58 hits, 40 runs, 39 RBIs and 10 home runs.

Noting the Hilltoppers: West Liberty has played well against Mountain East competition so far this season with a 7-5 record. With nine wins overall, the Hilltoppers owe much of their good fortune to pitcher Justin Retzer. Retzer is 4-1 this season in five starts and has pitched two complete games. With an ERA of 3.38 in 26.2 innings pitched, Retzer is one of the most successful pitchers in the MEC. The WLU pitching staff is backed up by a strong offense with five batters hitting over .300 on the year. Coby Eckstein highlights the Hilltopper lineup with a batting average of .400. Eckstein leads the team with 24 hits and 21 RBIs.
