WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Notre Dame College baseball team went 1-1 at California (Pa.) on Tuesday afternoon with a 11-4 win and a 5-3 loss. The Falcons are now 11-27 on the season while the Athletics are 17-17.
In game one, NDC put up 11 runs on 12 hits. All 12 of those hits came from the batters fourth through eighth in the batting order.
Danny Beaver led the team going four-for-four and scoring four runs. He also drove in one run. It was the third time in the last seven games that Beaver recorded four hits.Â
The Falcons hit four home runs in the first game including two from
Matt Seekins. Seekins drove in runs eight, nine and 10 on a three-run shot to left field in the fifth inning.
Robert Williams and
Angelo Tornatore combined for three RBIs on their home runs.Â
On the mound,
Todd Marshall earned his first win of the season to go along with his first start of the year. In four innings, Marshall allowed one earned run while striking out two batters.
Andrew Raponi came in to relieve the freshman for the final three innings to earn his first save of the season. Raponi also allowed one earned run while striking out two in the third save of the year for the Falcons.Â
In game two, Notre Dame went up 3-0 after the second inning with RBIs from Tornatore,
TJ Lett and
Austin Barnhart, but the Athletics came back to score five runs in the fifth inning to win the game.Â
Eight different Falcons earned at least one hit in game two with
TJ Lett leading the team with two.Â
Notre Dame will play at home this weekend in a two-day, four-game series against Wheeling Jesuit on April 22 and 23. April 22 will also be Senior Day for the baseball team. The doubleheaders are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on both days.Â
