This week: Notre Dame College volleyball will play three conference home games this week. The Falcons play West Liberty University on October 24 at 6 p.m., University of Charleston on October 27 at 7 p.m. and West Virginia State University, Senior Day, on October 28 at 12 p.m.

Records: The Falcons are 12-13, overall, this season and are 4-5 in the Mountain East Conference. The Hilltoppers are 15-10 and 6-4 MEC, the Golden Eagles are 10-11 and 6-3 MEC and the Yellow Jackets are 11-12 and 3-6 MEC.
Coaches Corner: Notre Dame volleyball head coach,
Troy Haught is in his third season with a record of 32-56, 15-26 MEC. Kayla Fetsko Mull is in her sixth season as a head coach and led the team to a 23-14 record in 2016 as well as an 11-6 conference record. Jenna Brown is in her fourth season as a head coach of Charleston and has a record of 64-53, 39-18 MEC. Kris Kern is in his first season as a head coach of WVSU.
Rankings: None of the teams received votes in the AVCA Coaches Poll.
Series History: The Falcons are 5-6 against West Liberty since the series started in 2011, and lost to the Hilltoppers, 3-0 on September 30. They are 0-5 against Charleston since 2013 and lost to the Golden Eagles, 3-1 in 2016. NDC has a record of 3-1 against West Virginia State since 2013 and beat the Yellow Jackets, 3-1 in 2016.
Noting the Falcons: The Falcons went 3-1 last week and have now won five of their last six games.
Melissa Maczuzak is now third in the nation with 409 kills and second in the MEC. NDC picked up a 3-0 win over Roberts Wesleyan College on October 17 and the team had an attack percentage of .344 and eight service aces. Maczuzak, who leads the team with 447.5 points, had 12 kills, seven digs and 15 points in the contest.
Natalie Spadaro and
Mary Kate McHugh each had 11.5 points and McHugh ended the night with a .421 attack percentage. The Falcons lost 3-0 to Lake Erie College on October 17 and Maczuzak had 18 kills and a .271 attack percentage.
Paige Staudacher had 37 assists and is now third in the conference in assists. In NDC's 3-1 victory over Glenville State on October 20, the Falcons posted a .448 attack percentage, the highest for the program since 2012. Spadaro broke the NDC record with an attack percentage of .759 as well as having 18 kills in 19 total attacks in the sets that Notre Dame won. Maczuzak had 20 kills, 21 points and an attack percentage of .271 while McHugh had 12 kills and 16 points. The Falcons beat West Virginia Wesleyan College 3-1 on October 21 and
Melissa Maczuzak had 24 kills, 10 digs and 27 points while her teammate,
Mary Kate McHugh had 17 kills and 17 digs.
Ali Kaeberlein added 34 digs and now leads the team with 427 digs this season and is fifth in the MEC in that category.
Noting the Hilltoppers: West Liberty is 6-2 in their last eight games, but lost to Wheeling Jesuit University 3-0 on October 17 as Caitlin Clarke led the team with eight kills and 8.5 points while Amanda Leonard recorded 17 assists. On October 21, the Hilltoppers beat West Virginia State 3-0 with Stephanie Leonard contributing nine kills and Raimey Benson, who leads the team with 252 kills, getting eight kills in the match. Kailee Cunningham, with 494 digs this season, had 14 digs in the game. In a 3-1 win over the University of Charleston on October 20, West Liberty had a .289 attack percentage. Clark had 13 kills, .306 percentage and 15 points while Amanda Leonard (24) and Kendall Souder (21) each had over 20 kills in the match. Sydney Scherer had eight kills and an attack percentage of .333.
Noting the Golden Eagles: The Golden Eagles took on West Liberty on October 20 and lost 3-1 after winning the first set. In the game, Carly Granger, who has 235.5 points and 207 kills in 2017, gave UC 15 kills, 12 digs and 15 points while Jessica Sunnenberg had 23 kills, 23 points and put together a .391 attack percentage. Kelsey Matusic, who is second in the conference in digs, had 24 digs and now has 370 digs this season. They also lost to Wheeling Jesuit, 3-1 on October 21 after winning the first set. Granger added 15 kills and 15.5 points and Matusic had 16 digs while Tori Clark had 10 kills.
Noting the Yellow Jackets: West Virginia State was swept by Wheeling Jesuit on October 20 and only scored 23 points. Allison Tumey and Tabi Pontious each had six kills and Emelia Fetch recorded 12 digs. The Yellow Jackets lost to West Liberty 3-0 on October 21. Pontious, who is fifth in the conference in assists, had seven kills and 14 digs and Mallory Rennard had eight kills and nine points.
