Notre Dame sweeps the fall break trip

SPRINGFIELD, Mass./HENNIKER, N.H. – The success continued for Notre Dame College men's rugby as they beat the American International College 36-22 on October 12 and then took down New England College by a score of 58-5 on October 14.

The Falcons (4-1) were able to shake off traveling for nine hours to defeat American International. AIC was out to avenge a loss in the semifinal national championship two years ago to NDC, however, the Falcons were up to the task and did not let that happen. The Falcons jumped out to a 24-5 lead by playing great systematic rugby.

AIC, with great individual play, was able to come back when a yellow card left the Falcons with only 14 players for 10 minutes. They were able to cut the lead to 24-22.  NDC then showed why they are ranked in the top 10 in the country by scoring twice more in the last 10 minutes of the game to put it out of reach.

The second side was able to show their strength by defeating AIC's second team by a large margin 38-0. There seems to be no fall off as both NDC teams played great team rugby.

"It was a great team win for the Falcons against a team that may win the D1AA championship this year, which the Falcons won the previous year." said head coach Jason Fox.

NDC traveled to Henniker on Saturday, N.H. for a game against a young New England College team.

"We were able to get a good look at some players that have not been given more game time in the past and they played very well in defeating NEC," Fox mentioned. "It was a great way to end a great weekend of rugby before our 10 hour trip back home to NDC."

Once again, the Falcons (5-1) played excellent rugby, both defensively and on Offense.

The Falcons will play the Naval Academy on October 21 at 12 p.m. in Annapolis, Md. and then will take on Wheeling Jesuit University on October 22 at 2 p.m. in Wheeling, W.Va.
