SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- The Notre Dame College women's soccer team played host to the visiting West Liberty Hilltoppers in a Mountain East Conference showdown at Mueller Field on Thursday afternoon, tying the rival 'Toppers in double overtime by a final score of 0-0.

The contest between MEC foes began at a so-so pace, with both teams feeling each other out in the early minutes. As the game progressed, the defensive struggle continued for both sides as neither side established control on offense.

With the scored tied at 0-0 going into the halftime intermission, the Falcons proved to be the more aggressive team on offense in the second half.

Despite the more aggressive attack in the second half, the Falcons still struggled to find the back of the Hilltoppers net.

With an offensive focus in the second half, NDC outshot the Hilltoppers 15-8 in regulation but the score remained tied at 0-0, forcing overtime in South Euclid.

The second half theme continued in overtime, with the Falcons keeping posession on WLU's half of the field for the majority of the first overtime period. NDC came close to scoring in the period with near-goals from Jackie Corrigan and Megan O'Connor, but the scoreless stalemate carried on.

In the second overtime period, the scoreless affair continued as both sides pinballed back and forth looking to take the lead, but to no avail.

After 110 minutes of action, both sides finished at a scoreless tie, 0-0.

With the tie, the Falcons are now 2-0-2 overall, including a 1-0-2 mark in Mountain East Conference play.

The Falcons return to action on Sunday, Sept. 18 at home against the Urbana Blue Knights in a Mountain East Conference battle. Game time is scheduled for 4 pm at Mueller Field.
