EDINBORO, Pa. – The Notre Dame Falcons saw their five match winning streak come to an end on Tuesday evening, in a non-conference loss to Edinboro.
The Falcons (5-4) fell for the first time since Sept. 2, while the victory for the Fighting Scots (5-4) was their fifth in a row, and came in their home opener.
Edinboro was able to take the match in three sets. They opened the match with a 25-13 victory, but they were pushed to the limit in the final two sets, where they won by identical scores of 25-23.
The reigning MEC Player of the Week,
Melissa Maczuzak registered her ninth straight match with double digit kills, as she led the Falcons with a dozen on the night to go along with three digs.
Paige Staudacher led the Falcons with 15 assists to go along with four digs.
Ali Kaeberlein led NDC with 15 digs, while
Tawny Flareau added 10.
Natalie Spadaro paced the Falcons in blocks with four.
Notre Dame will return to action on Friday, Sept. 16, when they host the NDC/Ursuline tournament. They'll play a pair of games at Murphy Gymnasium, hosting Davis and Elkins at 10 a.m., and Ohio Valley at 6 p.m.
