WHEELING, W.Va. – The Notre Dame Falcons returned to action on Saturday, and lost a pair of matches, falling to both Wheeling Jesuit and Malone.
The Falcons (15-15, 7-8 MEC) have now lost four in a row overall, following a three-match winning streak.
In the first contest of the day, the Falcons lost in three sets to the defending national champs, Wheeling Jesuit, 25-9, 25-12, and 25-13.
While they were swept in the second match of the day against Malone, NDC performed much better against the Pioneers. The sets were very closely contested, as the Falcons fell, 27-25, 25-20 and it took some extra time to finish the third set, which Malone took, 29-27.
Melissa Maczuzak's 17 kills paced the Falcons, and
Tawny Flareau added 26 assists, while adding 11 digs.
Mary Kate McHugh added nine kills and nine digs, while
Ali Kaeberlein led NDC with 12 digs, and
Riley Riehl added 10.
Notre Dame returns to action on Friday, Nov. 11, when they head to Glenville, W.Va., to take on Glenville State at 7 p.m.
