BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- Playing its final game of the 2016 regular season, the Notre Dame College volleyball team dropped a Mountain East Conference road matchup to the host West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats on Saturday afternoon, 3-0.
The Falcons (16-17 overall, 8-8 MEC) were led by 
Melissa Maczuzak, who entered Saturday's road game as the
 NCAA Division II leader in kills with 503. Maczuzak continued her impressive junior campaign with a team-high 15 kills against the Bobcats.
Meanwhile, 
Tawny Flareau and 
Paige Staudacher each recorded 13 assists while also combining for 18 digs.
After dropping the first set 25-13, the Falcons pushed the Bobcats to the brink in the second set but fell short again, 29-27. The Falcons battled in the third and final set, but ultimately lost the set by a score of 25-18.
With the loss, the Falcons finish the regular season with an overall record of 16-17, including an 8-8 record against MEC opponents.
The Falcons will now enter the upcoming Mountain East Conference Tournament as the No. 7 seed, and will likely face current No. 2 seed Charleston. For more information on the 2016 MEC Tournament, which begins on Thursday, Nov. 17, visit the
