GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Notre Dame Falcons returned to their winning ways on Friday evening, as they snapped a four-match losing streak with a three set victory over Glenville State.
For the Falcons (16-16, 8-7 MEC), the victory not only snapped a four-match losing streak overall, but it was also their first victory on the road since winning a five set match in Urbana on Oct. 4. The loss for the Pioneers (1-30, 0-14 MEC) was their 11th in a row, and their ninth straight at home.
Notre Dame had to battle to take the first set, as they held off the Pioneers in a 25-23 victory. Notre Dame had no problems in the second set, as they came away with a commanding, 25-9 win, and they closed out the match with a 25-21 victory in the third set.
Leading the way for Notre Dame was
Melissa Maczuzak who had 13 kills and 13 digs.
Allison Cheswick and
Morgan Toman each had two blocks to pace the Falcons defensively.
Paige Staudacher led NDC with 14 digs and 15 assists, while
Tawny Flareau added 11 assists and
Riley Riehl had 14 digs.
Notre Dame will finish the regular season on Saturday morning, Nov. 12, when they square off against West Virginia Wesleyan at 10 a.m.
