SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – The Notre Dame Falcons fell in their home finale at Murphy Gymnasium on Tuesday night, dropping a four-set match to Urbana.
For the Falcons (15-13, 7-5 MEC) the loss snapped a three-game losing streak overall, and a four-game winning streak at home. The victory for Urbana (18-11, 8-4 MEC) was their ninth in a row.
The match opened with a closely contested, 25-22 victory for Urbana, before the Falcons came right back with a 25-23 victory in the second set. Urbana took the third set convincingly, 25-15, before they held off a late Notre Dame charge in the final set, winning 25-21 to win the match.
Melissa Maczuzak led Notre Dame with 17 kills, while
Mary Kate McHugh added seven.
Morgan Toman led Notre Dame with four blocks, while
Erin Daugherty and McHugh added two.
Tawny Flareau had 18 assists while
Paige Staudacher added 13.
Ali Kaeberlein led NDC with 18 digs, while Flareau added 14.
The Falcons return to action on Friday, Nov. 4, when they hit the road to take on West Liberty in West Liberty, W.Va., at 6 p.m.
