SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – The Notre Dame Falcons won at home for the fourth straight time on Saturday afternoon, with a three set victory over Shepherd. 

Notre Dame (15-12, 7-4 MEC) has now won three in a row overall, and five out of their last six, while the loss for the Rams (8-18, 3-9 MEC) the loss was their fifth in a row. 

Coming off an incredible upset over Fairmont State on Friday night, the Falcons used that momentum to their advantage, as they won the opening set, 25-20. The second set saw Notre Dame score six of the first seven points, and they went on to win the set, 25-21. The final set was a very closely contested one, as the Falcons needed an extra point to close out the match, with a 26-24 victory. 

Melissa Maczuzak led the way for Notre Dame with 21 kills on the day to go along with seven digs. Maczuzak has delivered 20 or more kills in four of her last five contests. Mary Kate McHugh added 10 kills to go along with eight digs. Natalie Spadaro led NDC with four blocks, while Erin Daugherty added three. Tawny Flareau led NDC with 27 assists, and added seven digs. 

Before the game, the Falcons honored their three seniors (Flareau, Riley Riehl and Morgan Toman) on senior day. 

The Falcons will return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 1, when they play their final home contest of the season against Urbana at Murphy Gymnasium. The contest is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
