ATHENS, W.Va. -- The Notre Dame College women's soccer team extended its winning streak to nine straight games with a 1-0 win over the host Concord Mountain Lions on Wednesday afternoon. The Falcons used a 58th minute goal from
Megan O'Connor to spur themselves to yet another Mountain East Conference victory.
The game featured a defensive battle between familiar foes as both sides combined for just 13 shots (9-4 NDC) throughout the contest. After holding the Mountain Lions to just six shot attempts in their
first matchup back on Oct. 1, NDC limited CU to just four shot attempts this time around.
In that first matchup between Notre Dame and Concord on Oct. 1, it was
Megan O'Connor who scored both of the Falcons' goals en route to a 2-1 win. This time around, it was O'Connor once again who came through in the clutch for NDC.
After a scoreless first half, it was O'Connor who found the back of the net in the 58th minute, assisted by
Jackie Corrigan and
Sarah Grossman. The goal was O'Connor's fourth of the season, while Corrigan and Grossman each recorded their first assists of the season.
From there, the Falcons' vaunted defense continued to stifle the Mountain Lions attack.
