PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Notre Dame Falcons returned to action in a non-conference contest on Tuesday evening, and fell to the Lake Erie Storm in three sets.
The loss for the Falcons (10-10) snapped a brief, two-match winning streak, while the victory for the Storm (12-7) was their fourth in six tries at home, and third in their last four overall.
It was a tough night for the Falcons, as they dropped the opening set, 25-17, before dropping the second set by the exact same score. Capitalizing in the momentum they gained at the end of the second set, Lake Erie score the first five points of the final set, and came away with a 25-16 win to take the match.
Melissa Maczuzak led Notre Dame with 13 kills and added seven digs.
Natalie Spadaro added six kills while
Morgan Toman had five.
Ali Kaeberlein led Notre Dame with 14 digs while
Paige Staudacher led NDC with 17 assists and
Tawny Flareau added eight.
The Falcons return to action on Thursday, Oct. 13, when they host both Kentucky Wesleyan (3:30 p.m.) and Virginia-Wise (7 p.m.) at Murphy Gymnasium.
