FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The Notre Dame Falcons fell on the road on Saturday morning, dropping a three set match to Fairmont State.
The Falcons (8-9, 1-3 MEC) have now lost three in a row, while the victory for Fairmont State (9-6, 3-0 MEC) was their seventh in their last eight overall.
Fairmont State opened with a 25-20 victory in the opening set, before a decisive 25-14 victory in the second set. Notre Dame pushed them to the limit in the final set, where it took a few extra points to finish, but Fairmont State pulled away, 27-25.
Melissa Maczuzak led Notre Dame with nine kills, while
Mary Kate McHugh added eight and
Natalie Spadaro contributed with five. Spadaro led the Falcons with four blocks, while
Morgan Toman and Maczuzak each added three.
Tawny Flareau led NDC with 20 assists, while
Ali Kaeberlein led the Falcons with 19 digs, and McHugh added 14.
The Falcons will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 4, when they head to Urbana for another road MEC tilt. The contest will begin at 7 p.m.
