Box Score 2 INDIANA, Pa. – The Notre Dame Falcons finished up the weekend at the IUP Crimson Hawk tournament with a pair of four set losses.
The Falcons (0-4) fell in their first match of the day, 3-1 to Pitt-Johnstown, before falling in their final match of the weekend in four sets to Seton Hill.
In the opening match of the day for the Falcons, Pitt-Johnstown got out to a great start, winning the first two sets. Notre Dame fell, 25-10 in the first set, before falling 25-14 in the second set.
Notre Dame rebounded, and played well over their next two sets, ultimately falling in the fourth. The Falcons came away with a 25-23 victory in the third set to keep the match alive, before falling, 25-20 in the final set.
Notre Dame fell in four sets once again in their final match of the weekend. Seton Hill opened the action with a 25-17 victory, before the Falcons responded with a 25-18 victory to even the match. The Griffins won the final two sets, 25-13 and 25-11.
Angela Bush led the way for the Falcons with 14 kills on the day, while
Melissa Maczuzak added a dozen and
Lindsay Shirilla had 10. Maczuzak also had four services aces on the day, while
Tawny Flareau led NDC with 23 assists and
Shelby Regiec had 22.
Tawnia Almaraz had 31 digs on the day, while Regiec added 14, Flareau had 13, and Maczuzak had 10.
The Falcons are off for a while, but will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 16, when they host Alderson Broaddus in their home opener at Murphy Gymnasium. The contest is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
