Box Score SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – The Notre Dame Falcons welcomed in a red hot Edinboro team to Murphy Gymnasium on Wednesday evening, and fell to the Fighting Scots in three sets.
For the Falcons (1-8) the loss was their first at home this year, while the win for Edinboro (10-1) was their seventh in a row.
Things did not start well for the Falcons, as they fell 25-7 in the opening set, where little to nothing went right, but they improved with every set.
Notre Dame pushed Edinboro in the second set, but eventually fell, 25-20, before they put a scare into the Fighting Scots in the final set, where Edinboro edged NDC, 28-26.
Lindsay Shirilla led the way for the Falcons with six kills on the evening, to go along with a pair of blocks.
Shelby Regiec paced the Falcons with seven assists, and added four digs.
Tawny Flareau had five assists on the night, and added six digs.
The Falcons are in action again on Friday, Sept. 25, when they play their Mountain East Conference opener, in a road tilt against Wheeling Jesuit. The contest is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
