WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. -- On a Thursday afternoon of Mountain East Conference action, the Notre Dame College women's soccer team tied the host West Liberty Hilltoppers 1-1 at West Liberty Soccer Complex.

The Falcons jumped out to an early lead, scoring in the fourth minute via goal from Jillian Doss. With a pass from Lytia Hart, Doss found an opening on the right side and sniped the top left corner of the net, giving the Falcons the early 1-0 lead in just the fourth minute of the game.

NDC played stout defense throughout the majority of the first half, keeping the Hilltoppers off the scoreboard. However, West Liberty broke through in the 36th minute, as Erica White scored for the Hilltoppers to tie the score at 1-1 as the first half came to a close.

Both sides went into the halftime intermission tied at one, with the Hilltoppers outshooting the Falcons 9-6.

The second half was a different story, as the Falcons outshot West Liberty by a dominant margin of 14-3. Despite the flurry of shots from NDC, the Falcons were unable to capitalize and score, leaving the score tied at one. 

With the score tied 1-1, the Falcons and Hilltoppers went to overtime to decide a winner. In the first of two 15-minute overtime periods, the Falcons continued to pepper the WLU goalkeeper with shots with a 5-2 shot advantage. Once again, however, NDC was unable to find the game-winning goal, forcing a second overtime period.

In the second and final overtime period, the Falcons took two shots to the Hilltoppers' zero, but didn't find the back of the net on either shot.

After 120 minutes of hard-fought action, the battle between the Falcons and Hilltoppers ended in a 1-1 tie. NDC outshot WLU by a wide margin on the day, 27-14. 

Furthermore, NDC also won the advantage on corner kicks, 9-1. 

With the tie, the Falcons now sit at 2-2-1 on the season. NDC will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 20 on the road against Urbana University. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
