Women's soccer falls to West Virginia Wesleyan, 3-0

Box Score
SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- In a rematch of last season's Mountain East Conference Championship game, the Notre Dame College women's soccer team played host to the visiting and rival West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats on Friday afternoon at Mueller Field. While the Falcons were victorious in last season's MEC Championship over the Bobcats, NDC was unable to produce a similar result this time around, falling by a score of 3-0.

Playing in rain-soaked conditions, the Falcons looked to push the tempo early on. NDC used its team speed to create offensive opportunities, but couldn't capitalize on their chances, leaving the game in a scoreless tie.

Despite the Falcons push for offense, it was the Bobcats who struck first in the contest. WVW's Kristi Dalton scored a goal in the 33rd minute to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead going into halftime.

The Falcons outshot the Bobcats 8-3 in the first half, but still trailed at the intermission by a narrow deficit of 1-0.

As the rained came down harder in the second half, the Falcons struggled to find a rythym on offense.

The Bobcats scored two more goals in the second half, one in the 67th minute and another in the 84th minute, as the Falcons fell by a final score of 3-0.

With the loss, the Falcons drop to 2-2 on the season, including 1-1 in MEC play. NDC will return to action on Thursday, Sept. 17 on the road at West Liberty University. The game is scheduled for a 4:30 pm start.
