Box Score SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – The Notre Dame Falcons closed out the 2015 season at Murphy Gymnasium on Saturday evening with a 3-0 victory over West Virginia Wesleyan.
The victory for the Falcons (4-25, 3-13 MEC) marked the first time this season that they won games consecutively, while the loss for the Bobcats (12-18, 6-10 MEC) was their second in a row.
Notre Dame didn't waste any time getting started, as they opened up with a 25-16 victory in the opening set. What was most impressive about the set, was the way they finished. Notre Dame had a 16-15 lead, before they scored nine of the game's final 10 points to win.
In the second set, Notre Dame carried that momentum over, as they opened the set with a 5-1 run. The Bobcats came back, and eventually took a 14-12 lead, before NDC scored seven of the next eight points to take a 19-15 lead, and went on to win, 25-23.
Notre Dame closed out the match by winning the third set, 26-24. The third set proved to be a bit tougher, as the Bobcats opened with a 5-1 run, but the Falcons came back to outlast the Bobcats and win the match.
Lindsay Shirilla led the Falcons with 14 kills on the night and added five digs in the final match of her career.
Shelby Regiec had 15 assists to go along with four service aces and six digs.
Amanda Stookey registered double digit assists as well with 11.
Tawnia Almaraz paced the Falcons with 16 digs on the night, while
Angela Bush led the Falcons with five blocks, and
Brooke Mako added four.
