Women's soccer dominates Concord on Senior Day, 4-0

Box Score
SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- It was Senior Day at Mueller Field on Wednesday as the Notre Dame College women's soccer team played their final home game of the 2015 season. The Falcons played host to the visiting Concord Mountain Lions in a Mountain East Conference matchup, winning by a convincing margin of 4-0.

Playing on a rain-soaked field, the Falcons adjusted to the conditions early on. A slick playing surface made for difficult passes from both sides as both the Falcons and Mountain Lions looked to find a rythym early.

The match remained scoreless for the first 40 minutes of the first half, but it was the Falcons who would strike first shortly before halftime. In the 42nd minute, Alexis Manoa attempted a corner kick but instead curved that kick into the net, scoring on her own as she gave NDC a 1-0 lead.

Once Manoa scored the opening goal of the game, the flood gates opened for the Falcons. Just over a minute after Manoa's goal, Jillian Doss scored a goal at the 42:34 mark with an assist from Alex DeFilippo. The goal from Doss was her team-leading seventh goal of the season, and gave the Falcons a 2-0 lead at halftime.

At halftime, the Falcons honored the four seniors on their roster: Sabrina Mottershead, Alex DeFilippo, Magail Heaps and Kayla Carabotta. The four seniors were honored as they stood with their parents at midfield, celebrating their successful careers as Falcons.

Following the two late goals at the end of the first half, the Falcons offense stayed hot early in the second half. Katarina Doncevic scored a 48th minute goal to give the Falcons a 3-0 lead early in the second half, with Manoa picking up the assist once again.

After the goal from Doncevic, the Falcons scoring frenzy came to a short halt, but not for long as Megan O'Connor scored in the 59th minute. O'Connor's goal came with an assist from Manoa and gave the Falcons a 4-0 lead in the second half.

From there, the Falcons held on for a convincing 4-0 win at home over Concord on Senior Day 2015. With the win, the Falcons improve to 12-4-1 overall, including a 11-3-1 mark in MEC play.

NDC will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 31 on the road against Fairmont State University in their final game of the 2015 regular season. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Fairmont, West Virginia.
