Box Score SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- The Notre Dame Falcons scored their third home win of the season on Wednesday afternoon, in a 2-0 victory over West Liberty at Mueller Field.
The Falcons (4-1-0, 3-1-0 MEC) remain unbeaten in three home matches this season after the victory, while the loss for West Liberty (1-3-2, 1-2-1) was their second in a row.
Notre Dame scored the first goal of the afternoon in the ninth minute of the contest.
Alexis Manoa sent in a corner kick, which set up a header from
Megan O'Connor to give Notre Dame the early lead.
The Falcons took that 1-0 lead into the half, and scored again, ten minutes into the second period. In the 55th minute of the match, Manoa found herself in the center of the scoring action again, as she scored on an assist from
Kathrine Beattie to give NDC a 2-0 advantage.
The Hilltoppers didn't have many chances to score on the afternoon, as the Falcons fired off seven more shots (13-7) throughout the contest. Notre Dame had seven shots on goal in the contest as well while the Hilltoppers were turned away by NDC goalie
Samantha Shoemaker four times.
The Falcons are in action again on Saturday, Sept. 27, when they host Shepherd at Normandy Field in more MEC action. The contest is scheduled for a 10 a.m. start.
