Box Score EDINBORO, Pa. – The Notre Dame Falcons played one final road contest before their home opener, and fell in four sets to Edinboro on Tuesday night.
The Falcons (2-7) fell to the Fighting Scots (7-2) for the second time this season, as the two met over the weekend on the final day of play at the PSAC/MEC Crossover tournament on Saturday.
Edinboro opened the match with a 25-11 victory in the opening set, hitting .242 to take a 1-0 lead, before hitting .375 in the second set to take a 25-17 victory.
Notre Dame battled back, and won the third set, 25-19, forcing the fourth set, which turned out to be the final set, as Edinboro hit .306 to take the final set, 25-19 and close out the victory.
In the loss,
Lindsay Shirilla led the Falcons with 12 kills on the night, while
Alexia Koerkenmeier added eight kills and a pair of blocks.
Once again it was
Tawnia Almaraz leading the way for the Falcons defensively with 13 digs, while
Shelby Regiec added 11, and contributed with 15 assists as well.
Angela Bush and
Kristen Hill both had a pair of blocks, and Shea Thayer led NDC in that category with three.
The Falcons will play their home opener, and MEC opener on Friday night at Murphy Gymnasium, as they welcome West Virginia Wesleyan to South Euclid, Ohio. The contest is set for a 7 p.m. start.
