Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- The Notre Dame Falcons fell on both ends of a twin bill on Saturday afternoon against the first place Shepherd Rams in Mountain East Conference action.

The Falcons (15-13, 13-10 MEC) were limited to just one run in an 8-1 loss in game one, before the Rams (24-7, 22-4) used a five run sixth inning in game two to take the second game of the day in a 9-4 win.  The Rams have now won 15 games in a row.

Game One:
Notre Dame left nine men on the bases, and came away with just one run, despite registering eight hits in the contest.  The Falcons scored their lone run in the top of the fifth inning, which began with three straight hits.

Shane DeFranco started the inning with a double to left center field, and made his way to third on a base hit back up the middle from Mike Ferguson. Danny Beaver followed with a run scoring single up the middle to score DeFranco, but that was all NDC could get the rest of the way.

Shepherd scored four times on five hits in the bottom of the second inning.  The inning was highlighted by a two-run double from Bryce Shemer, and a two-run single from Spencer Wolfe. Shepherd added another in the fourth inning before plating three in the sixth.

Shepherd's Paul Hvodzovic (7-0) went the distance to score the victory after allowing just a run on eight hits while fanning 11 in the process. Zach Gresch (2-3) took the loss after surrendering five runs on seven hits over 4.2 innings of action.

Beaver and Travis Smetana paced the NDC offense with two hits apiece.

Game Two:
Big innings paced the Rams again in game two, as they never trailed at any point throughout the contest after scoring three times in the bottom of the first inning on four hits.

Notre Dame was able to chip away at the lead after scoring a pair of runs on two hits in the top of the third. The Falcons got both runs in the inning on a clutch, two-out triple from TJ Lett which scored Ferguson and Jake Courtot

NDC added another run in the fourth inning to tie the game at 3-3. Keifer Quick started the inning with a single, before stealing second base with two outs. Smetana then reached on shortstop Zane Bard's error, which brought Quick home to tie the game.

Shepherd regained the lead in the next half inning when Shemer brought Brandon Coffey home on a sac fly, and the Rams put the game out of reach by scoring five runs on five hits and capitalized on a pair of Notre Dame errors in the sixth inning.

Notre Dame added one more run in the top of the seventh, when Smetana scored on Courtot's sac fly, but it was not enough.

Jamie Driver (6-1) allowed three runs, one earned on three hits over six innings and fanned four to get the victory, while Matt Kastelic (4-4) took the loss after surrendering seven runs on eight hits and struck out four on the afternoon.

Notre Dame scored three more runs on the second game, despite registering four fewer hits in the contest.  Smetana paced the NDC offense on the day with three hits.  He went 3-for-6 on the afternoon.

The Falcons will wrap up the weekend series with the Rams with a double header in Shepherdstown, W.Va., on Sunday afternoon. The first pitch will be delivered at 1 p.m.
