Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
AVON, Ohio – The Notre Dame Falcons used a double header split to take the weekend series from Virginia-Wise at All Pro Freight Stadium, and won in walk off fashion in the finale.

The Falcons (10-9, 8-6) fell to the Cavaliers (6-15, 4-11), 8-2 in the first contest of the afternoon, before rallying to take the series finale, 4-3, in eight innings.

Game One:
Wise scored three runs in each of the first two innings to seize control early on. They scored a trio of runs on a pair of errors to take a 3-0 lead in the first. With a runner on first and nobody out, Mike McCollum belted a single to right field.  Right fielder Ryan Sanders had trouble fielding the ball, and the error allowed the first run to score. Bill Steven followed with a run scoring double, and Danny reached on a fielder's choice later in the inning to plate the final run of the first.

The Cavs added three more on three hits while taking advantage of one more NDC error.  They had the bases loaded when McCollum struck again with a single through the left side to score Jordan Olinger. Steven followed with a RBI single to center, and Steve Klaiber drove in the final run on a sac fly.

While the Cavs pushed two more across in the top of the fifth, before Notre Dame struck for a pair on the bottom of the sixth inning. The Falcons recorded four straight hits to start the inning, which began with a double from Bryan Blondeaux.  Blondeaux moved to third on a single from Sanders, and scored on Keifer Quick's single.  Jared Clovis followed with a run scoring single to right center to cap the inning.

NDC added a pair of insurance runs to cushion their lead in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Keifer Quick walked with the bases loaded to bring Smetana home, and Beaver came home moments later when Clovis reached on a fielder's choice.

Klaiber (2-1) came away with the victory for the Cavs, after tossing a complete game, while holding NDC to just two runs on seven hits while fanning six in the opening contest. Zack LaRocca (1-3) suffered the loss in the opener after surrendering six runs on six hits over 1.1 innings of action.

Game Two:
Notre Dame jumped on the board first in the home half of the second inning.  Taylor Neville walked to start the inning, and Andrew Hurd laid down a sacrifice bunt to move him over to second.  A wild pitch placed Neville on third base, before the Falcons took advantage of a big two-out error.  T.J. Lett hit a ground ball through the legs of Wise third baseman Ty Lighton, which brought Neville home.

The Cavs answered with three runs on four hits in the next half inning. McCollum drove in the first run to tie the game on a RBI double to score Lighton.  Two batters later Klaiber came through with a two-run single to right field, giving Wise a 3-1 lead.

NDC put together a two-out rally in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie things up.  Lett started the fire with a bunt base hit, before walks were issued to Logan Walters and Travis SmetanaDanny Beaver followed with a game tying two run single to right field.

Both teams had chances to score in the sixth and seventh innings, but left men stranded in scoring position in both frames.  Shane DeFranco got things going for the Falcons in the eighth on a lead off double.  Intentional walks were issued to both Keifer Quick and Smetana to load the bases with one out.  Beaver then hit  a fly ball to center field, which was dropped by JT Bellotti, and scored Blondeaux in the process to seal the deal.

Zach Gresch (2-2) tossed all eight innings to come away with the victory.  He allowed three runs, on 11 hits and fanned four to grab the victory.  Cody Compton (1-1) allowed a run on a hit over 1.1 innings of work and took the loss.

Sanders paced the NDC offense with three hits on the day, while Beaver came away with three big RBI's on the afternoon as well.

The Falcons are in action again on Wednesday, March 26, when they head to Washington, Pa., to take on West Liberty.  The first pitch in game one will be delivered at 1 p.m.
