ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The No.1 Notre Dame College wrestling team went 3-0 at Maryville's Dr. Lombardi Duals, defeating No.13 McKendree, King College and No. 16 Maryville on Sunday Feb. 16.
The Falcons (11-1) opened the day with a 20-13 win over McKendree in the first dual of the day. The Falcons claimed a 10-0 lead in winning the first three bouts of the dual, including a 12-4 major decision for
Maurice Miller (19-5) who is ranked No.2 in the nation by the Division II Wrestling Coaches Association. McKendree would claim victories at 149 and 157 pounds before No.2
Eric Burgey (8-2) and No.1
Joey Davis (31-0) gave the Falcons a 17-7 lead with a decision and major decision victory respectively. Michael Burkhardt (15-8) would produce a vital 3-2 victory for the Falcons in the heavyweight bout to secure a 20-13 victory for NDC.
In the second dual of the day the falcons produced a dominating display to blank King College 44-0.

Joey Davis at 174 pounds recorded pins for the Falcons.
In the final dual of the day against the hosts Maryville the Falcons finished with a strong 24-9 victory. The Falcons won seven of the ten bouts with Brain Hauser (22-9) at 125 pounds, No.5
Marty Carlson (22-10) at 133 pounds, No.2
Maurice Miller at 141 pounds,
Andrew Bannister at 149 pounds, No.7
Jonatan Rivera (17-6) at 157 pounds, No.1
Joey Davis at 174 pounds and No.3
Brandonn Johnson (28-6) at 197 pounds all claiming victories for the Falcons.

Joey Davis went 3-0 for the Falcons and at 125 pounds the Falcons went 3-0 with
Brian Hauser going 2-0 and
Jacob Goodwin going 1-0.
With the three wins on Sunday the Falcons finish their dual-meet season with a record of 11-1. The Falcons have gone unbeaten against Division II opposition, with their lone defeat coming against Division I opponent Ohio State. The Falcons have an overall dual-meet record of 77-8 since the program was started in 2006.
NDC will have next weekend off, before heading to Johnstown, Pa. for the NCAA Super Regional I Feb. 28 and Mar.1. The Falcons wrestlers who qualify from the regional meet will then progress to the NCAA Division II National Championships in Cleveland, Ohio. Mar. 14-15.
