Box Score WEST LIBERTY, W.Va -- Playing on the road on Halloween night, the Notre Dame College volleyball team picked up a road win over the host West Liberty Hilltoppers on Friday night. The Falcons swept the Hilltoppers, winning by a match score of 3-0.
In the first set, the Falcons fell behind early as the Hilltoppers took an early 10-4 lead. Later in the set, the Falcons would use a kill from freshman
Melissa Maczuzak to tie the set at 19. WLU won four of the next five points, thus taking a 23-20 lead, but the Falcons rallied late in the set to pick up a 25-23 win over the Hilltoppers.
The second set was a close battle between both sides. The Falcons and Hilltoppers found themselves tied at 21 late in the set after another kill from Maczuzak, with the assist from sophomore
Tawny Flareau. Once again, the Falcons used another late rally to steal the set, winning by an identical score of 25-23.
With a 2-0 lead in the match, the Falcons took an immediate 12-3 lead in the third and final set, and went on to win the set by a final score of 25-20.Â
With the win in the third set, the Falcons swept the match and earned a road victory over the Hilltoppers, winning 3-0.
The Falcons will compete next on Saturday, Nov. 1 with a pair of road bouts against Wheeling Jesut University at 1 p.m., followed by a match with Davis & Elkins College at 3 p.m.
