URBANA, Ohio -- In their final Mountain East Conference tilt of the 2014 regular season, the Notre Dame Falcons scored a 2-0 road victory over Urbana on Wednesday afternoon. 

The victory for the Falcons (12-1-2, 11-1-2) was their fourth in a row overall, and their fourth in a row on the road as well. The loss for the Blue Knights (2-11-3, 1-10-3 MEC) brings their season to an end on a six match losing streak. 

Notre Dame got on the board early, scoring in the first seven minutes of the contest. Alexis Manoa scored that first goal for the Falcons, on a shot from 30 yards out that hit the post, and ricocheted into the net. 

Manoa's goal was her eighth of the season, tops on the team, and it was the only goal of the opening period. Opportunities were somewhat limited for both teams in the opening half, as the two sides combined for just six shots. 

Notre Dame added some insurance in the second period, as Megan O'Connor scored on an assist from Kathrine Beattie in the 71st minute of the match, which put the contest out of reach. 

Notre Dame Goalkeeper Samantha Shoemaker, the reigning Mountain East Conference Defensive Player of the week had a big day in net, as she turned away six shots on the afternoon. 

The Falcons will bring their 2014 regular season to a close in non-conference action on Saturday, Nov. 1, when they play host to Edinboro (Pa.) at Normandy Field in South Euclid, Ohio. The contest is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
