Box Score WISE, Va. – The Notre Dame Falcons fell in three sets to Virginia-Wise in a Mountain East Conference road tilt on Saturday afternoon.
The loss for the Falcons (5-13, 3-5 MEC) was their third in their last four matches, and leaves them without a road victory on the season, while the victory for the Cavs (8-9, 3-5) was their second in their last three matches.
It was a tough afternoon for the Falcons, as they were not able to score any more than 17 points in any of the three sets. They fell in the opening set, 25-16, before a 25-10 setback in the second set, and the Cavs closed out the victory with a 25-17 win in the final set.
Kristen Hill led the way for Notre Dame with six kills on the afternoon, while
Tawny Flareau added 11 assists.
Melissa Maczuzak was Notre Dame's leader defensively with seven digs on the afternoon, and Shea Thayer added a pair of blocks.
The Falcons are in action again on Friday, Oct. 17, when they play host to Wheeling Jesuit at Murphy Gymnasium. The contest is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
