CARROLLTON, Ga. -- The Notre Dame Falcons wrapped up their two-day trip to Georgia, by falling twice in the West Georgia Invitational.
NDC (0-4) fell in their first contest of the day, 3-1, against West Alabama, before falling in the finale, in a 3-0 setback, in three close sets, against the hosts, West Georgia.
In the opening match, Notre Dame dropped the first set, 25-16, before rallying to tie the match at 1-1, with a 25-23 victory in the second set. A close contest in the third set resulted in a 25-23 victory for West Alabama, who then took a 25-12 victory to close out the set.Â
Notre Dame was led by
Morgan Toman in the opening set, as she registered eight kills, while
Suzanne Morris added seven.Â
Shelby Regiec had 23 assists in the match, and
Brittany Perrott led NDC defensively with 27 digs.Â
NDC tested the hosts, West Georgia in their final match of the tournament, playing in three close sets. They lost the opening set, 25-22, before falling 25-23 in the second set, and West Georgia came away with a 25-18 victory in the final set to score the win.
Taylor Thomas had seven kills for the Falcons and hit .308 in the second match, while Regiec came away with 16 assists and
Tawny Flareau had 14. Perrott had seven digs against the hosts of the tournament, while
Magenta Tygret and Regiec each had six.
The Falcons are in action again on Friday, Sept. 13, when they continue tournament play in the Cal (Pa.) Vulcan Invitational. They will square off against the hosts, Cal (Pa.) at noon, and will then face Clarion (Pa.) at 3 PM.Â
