CARROLLTON, Ga. – The Notre Dame Falcons began the 2013 season with a pair of losses at the West Georgia University of West Georgia Invitational Tournament.
NDC (0-2) fell in their first contest of the day, 3-1, against King (Tenn.), before falling in the nightcap, in a 3-0 setback against Valdosta State (Ga.).
In the opening match, Notre Dame dropped the first two sets, 25-14, and 25-21, before taking the third set to extend the match with a 25-23 victory, before the Tornadoes wrapped up the match with a 25-14 victory in the fourth set.
Notre Dame was led by
Suzanne Morris, who had 10 kills against the Tornadoes.
Angela Bush hit .462 in the first match and came away with nine kills, while
Tawny Flareau had 10 assists, and
Brittany Perrott paced NDC defensively with seven digs.
NDC battled in the opening set of the second match, falling 25-18 to Valdosta State, before the Blazers won the final two sets by scores of 25-15 and 25-14.
Perrott led NDC defensively again with 11 digs in the match, giving her 18 on the day, while
Shelby Regiec had 10 assists to go along with four digs. Morris and Bush led NDC offensively with four kills each against the Blazers.
The Falcons will finish up at the UWG invitational on Saturday. They'll play two more matches, beginning with an 11:30 AM tilt against West Alabama, before finishing up against the hosts, West Georgia at 2:00 PM. Live stats will be available for the second match.
