BEREA, Ohio -- The Notre Dame Falcons fell to their nearby neighbors to the west, Baldwin Wallace, in three sets in a road contest on Wednesday evening.
The loss for the Falcons (1-8) was their first against an in-state opponent this season, while the victory for the Yellow Jackets (7-6) was their third in their last four matches.
NDC fell in the first set, 25-18, before putting up a great fight in the second set in a 25-21 setback, and Baldwin Wallace used a persistent offensive attack, and hit .353 in the final set to secure the victory, with a 25-16 victory in the final set.
There were a few individual performances that stood out for the Falcons.
Lindsay Shirilla led the way for NDC with seven kills on the evening, while
Katie Sullivan was a close second with six, and hit .267 on the night.
Shelby Regiec continued to set up the Falcon offense, distributing 27 assists in the contest, and came away with nine digs as well.
Brittany Perrott led the charge for NDC defensively with 15 digs.
"The girls played really hard tonight, but we just made some mistakes at the worst possible times," said Head Coach
Mark Ridley. "I'm happy with the effort, and I hope we can learn from this moving forward."
The Falcons are in action again this weekend when they participate in the MEC/PSAC Crossover on Friday. They'll play a pair of contests, beginning with a 2 p.m. match against Indiana (Pa.), and they'll finish up Friday with a 4:30 p.m. contest against Gannon.
