Box Score
SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- The Notre Dame Falcons endured an exciting four set match at Murphy Gymnasium on Friday evening, and came away with a 3-1 victory over West Liberty.

For the Falcons (5-24, 3-11 MEC) the victory was their second in their last three matches at home while the loss for West Liberty (11-16, 6-7) was their second in a row following a three game winning streak.

West Liberty took control at the start of the match by scoring the first four points, but the Falcons rallied, and scored the next four to tie things up.  West Liberty maintained a lead through the first half of the opening set, until Notre Dame took over when they established a 13-12 advantage, and never trailed the rest of the match, taking the opening set, 25-23.

Notre Dame used the momentum established at the end of the first set and manifested it into early points in the second set.  The Falcons scored the first four points of set two, and found themselves ahead, 6-1, prompting the Hilltoppers to call for time. NDC wasn't affected by the timeout at all, as they scored three consecutive points to follow it, and cruised to a 25-17 victory.

West Liberty scored the first two points of the third set, but Notre Dame responded by scoring the next seven, and appeared as though they were well on their way to three-set victory, when they took a 24-20 advantage, but the Hilltoppers wouldn't' go away.  West Liberty scored five consecutive points to keep the set alive, and eventually won, 28-26.

The fourth set proved to be just as exciting as the third.  Notre Dame scored three out of the first four points to take the lead, but both sides remained extremely close through the remainder of the contest.  West Liberty took a 19-17 advantage, before the Falcons hit their stride and regained the lead by scoring six consecutive points, and took the final set, 25-22.

"I'm very proud of the effort our girls gave tonight," said Head Coach Mark Ridley.  "We beat a quality team this evening, and I hope that this momentum carries into our next match."

Suzanne Morris led the way with 13 kills on the night and hit .367 in the process.  Kristen Hill registered nine while hitting .231.  Taylor Thomas had four blocks to go along with six kills, while Shelby Regiec had 38 assists.  Four Falcons had double digit digs, with Brittany Perrott and Morgan Toman leading the way with 21 each.  Kelsey Swords added 16 and Ryan Moriarty contributed with 12.

The Falcons are in action again on Tuesday, Nov. 12, when they host Wheeling-Jesuit at Murphy Gymnasium. The contest is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
