Falcons Move on to MEC Tournament Final With 2-0 Win Over Rams

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Notre Dame College women's soccer defeated the Shepherd Rams 2-0 in the Mountain East Conference Tournament Semi-Final.

Playing at Duvall Rosier field on the campus of Fairmont State University the Falcons outshot the Rams 8 to 3 to move to 16-1-0 on the season.

The Falcons opened the scoring in the 31st minute when sophomore midfielder Magail Heaps connected onto a Karla DiJohn corner kick. The goal was Heap's first goal for the Falcons with DiJohn providing her third assist of the season.

Sophomore forward Kathrine Beattie doubled the Falcons lead in the 42nd minute, capitalizing on an error by the Ram defense to score with her left foot into the bottom right hand corner. The goal was Beattie's seventh of the season.

Senior goalkeeper Kristy Kolschetzky and the Falcon defense produced her 14th shutout of the season as the Falcons limited the Rams to six shots.

The Falcons will now play in the MEC Tournament Final on Saturday Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. The match will again be hosted by Fairmont State University with the Falcons playing the winner of the West Virginia Wesleyan vs. Charleston game.
