CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The Notre Dame College wrestling team swept the Campbellsville dual meet on Saturday (Nov. 23). The Falcons went 3-0 recording wins over Mount St. Joseph, 54-0, Calumet St. Joseph, 53-0, and the host Campbellsville University Tigers, 23-18.
The Falcons were led by
Orlando Scales and
Jonatan Rivera who both went 3-0. Scales pinned all three of his opponents and Rivera recorded two decisions and a tech fall. In addition
Marty Carlson,
Brian Hauser,
Joey Davis and
Brandonn Johnson all went unbeaten on Saturday.
Against mount St. Joseph the Falcons recorded four pins on their way to a convincing 54-0 win. The Falcons were equally impressive against Calumet St. Joseph recording five pins to again blank their opponent with a 53-0 win.
In the final dual meet of the day the Falcons faced a sterner challenge from the host Campbellsville University team, who are currently ranked No.4 in the NAIA. The Falcons were pushed throughout the match but wins from Brain Hauser (dec. 9-7),
Marty Carlson (maj. Dec. 16-4),
Jonatan Rivera (dec. 5-3)
Joey Davis (maj. Dec. 11-3), Brandon Johnson (dec. 8-3) and
Orlando Scales (pin 0:29) secured a solid win over a ranked opponent.
The Falcons now have 10 days to prepare for a home dual meet against the 13th ranked Ashland Eagles.
