SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Two goals from
Megan O'Connor, her sixth and seventh goals of the season, led the Falcons to a 3-0 victory over the visiting Mountain Lions from Concord.
The undefeated Falcons (9-0-0) continued their record-breaking start to the season on what was a day of celebration on Campus Road as the two new turf fields were dedicated and the college celebrated homecoming.
Playing on Normandy Field the Falcons took the lead in the 32nd minute when
Megan O'Connor scored directly from a free kick from the right hand side of the 18-yard box.
Leading 1-0 at the half the Falcons upped the pace in the second half creating seven shots on goal.
The Falcons doubled their lead in the 57th minute when
Alex Defilippo grabbed hold of a loose ball in the box and shot in to the bottom right hand corner, to score her fourth goal of the season.
Megan O'Connor sealed the win in the 84th minute with her second goal of the game,
Kathrine Beattie providing the assist.
Once again the Falcons were able to keep a clean sheet and have still only conceded one goal this season.
The Falcons defense and goalkeeper Kristy Kolshetzky recorded their eighth shutout of the season.
The Falcons move to 6-0-0 in the Mountain East Conference, 4-0-0 at home and 9-0-0 overall.
The Falcons, who are currently ranked sixth in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), will now travel to Charleston on Tuesday Oct. 8 to take on the Golden Eagles.
