WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. -- The Notre Dame Falcons fell in four sets to the Hilltoppers of West Liberty on Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons (3-21, 1-9 MEC) have lost two in a row after snapping a seven match losing streak last weekend against Virginia-Wise, while the Hilltoppers (10-14, 5-5 MEC) have now won two in a row, and seven out of nine at home.
Every single set was tightly contested, and decided by no fewer than six points, while three out of the four sets were decided by three points or less.
Notre Dame fell to the Hilltoppers in the opening set, 25-22, before returning the favor with a 25-22 victory in the second set to tie the match. West Liberty used a 25-19 advantage in the third set to regain the lead, and then closed out the match with a 25-22 win in the final set.
Angela Bush paced the Falcons for the second match in a row, leading the way with nine kills on the afternoon to go along with four blocks.
Suzanne Morris was a force up front as well with eight kills and four block assists, and so was
Taylor Thomas who added seven kills to along with seven block assists.
Shelby Regiec led the Falcons with 36 assists on the day, and also added 10 digs.
Morgan Toman led the Falcons with 17 digs, and
Brittany Perrott was a close second with 16.
Notre Dame is in action again Tuesday, Oct. 29, when they play Ursuline in a road contest at Hathaway Brown High School in Shaker Heights, Ohio. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
