LEC sweeps season series

Falcons unable to reprise earlier loss in GLIAC test at home

Box Score
LYNDHURST, Ohio – Notre Dame lost to Lake Erie, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon at Korb field.

The loss dropped the Falcons to 3-6 on the season (2-3 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference), and it marks NDC's third loss in the team's last four matches.  The defeat also marked Notre Dame's second this season to the Storm (2-6, 1-4).

The game was evenly matched throughout, with both teams battling for possession. Late in the first half, however, the Storm capitalized on a scoring opportunity when junior forward Paige Nemec netted a goal on a cross from junior midfielder Chrissy Poulos.

The goal by Nemec proved to be the game's lone score, and it sent the Storm home with their first conference win of the season.

Lake Erie had one other excellent scoring opportunity in the contest, but that attempt -- early in the second half -- was turned away by Falcon goalkeeper Kristy Kolschetzky with a dazzling, diving effort.

The Falcons will look to bounce back from the setback against LEC next Friday when the Dragons of Tiffin University come to Korb Field (7 p.m. kickoff).
