NDC drops two at Falcon Fest

Falcons lose two close matches Shepherd and WV Wesleyan

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The Notre Dame Falcons began their 2012 season with a pair of losses, against West Virginia Wesleyan and Shepherd at the Falcon Fest Tournament. (Gm-1 | Gm-2)

The Falcons (0-2) dropped fell 3-2 in the first match of the day against WV Wesleyan, and dropped a 3-1 decision on their second match against Shepherd.

NDC lost a nail biter in the opening contest against WV Wesleyan, falling in five sets, while they rallied to win the fourth set, 27-25, before taking a defeat in a 15-11 setback in the final set.

In the second match, NDC came very close to forcing another five set showdown, but they fell in the final set, 28-26.  NDC was down 1-0, when they came back with a 25-21 victory in the second set, and fell 25-20 in the third set before dropping the final set. 

NDC freshman Magenta Tygret led the Falcons with 11 kills, while hitting .409 in the first match against WV Wesleyan.  Sophomore Chandler Mass had 36 assists and Kelsey Swords paced NDC defensively in the first contest with 22 digs, while Brittany Perrott and Erica Crawford both had 10 digs. 

The Falcons are back in action again on Saturday, as they finish up at the Falcon Fest Tournament with a pair of matches.  NDC is scheduled to play at noon against the hosts, Fairmont State, and at 4 p.m.  against Pitt-Johnstown.
