The loss for the Falcons (6-22) halted a brief two match winning streak, while the victory for the Griffins (19-11) marked their fourth in a row, and gives them 12 in their last 13 contests.
Notre Dame dropped the opening set, 25-17, before falling 25-19 in the second set. The Falcons went toe-to-toe with the red hot Griffins in the final set, and were tied at 10-10. However, the Griffins caught fire, and ran off nine consecutive points to take a 19-10 advantage, eventually winning the final set, 25-19.
Notre Dame hit .064 on the evening, and they were led by senior
Brianne Schmansky, who had eight kills, while hitting .304.
Angela Bush added six kills to go along with a pair of solo blocks, and
Suzanne Morris delivered five kills and a pair of block assists.
Chandler Mass contributed with 27 assists to go along with six digs.
Tawnia Almaraz led the way for NDC defensively with 17 kills, while
Magenta Tygret added eight.
The Falcons will finish the 2012 season on Thursday evening, when they hit the road for a battle with Ohio Valley (W.Va.). The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
