The win for the Falcons (5-21) was their first since Sept. 29, and snapped a season worst, 10-game losing streak. The loss for Central State (0-13) was their fourth in their last two seasons against the Falcons.
The Falcons opened the match with a 25-12 victory over the Marauders, and followed that with a 25-7 victory in the second set. Notre Dame closed out the match with a 25-9 victory in the third and final set.
NDC registered 15 kills on their way to hitting .560 in the opening set, and followed that up with a dozen kills in the second set, while hitting .458. The Falcons hit .478 overall in the contest.
Notre Dame's lone senior
Brianne Schmansky led the way for the Falcons with seven kills on the day, while hitting .636.
Magenta Tygret and
Katie Sullivan both turned in five kills. Tygret also added four service aces and six digs.
For the first time this season, someone other than
Chandler Mass led the Falcons in assists.
Shelby Regiec paced the Falcons in that department with 22, while delivering a trio of service aces and six digs.
Brittany Perrott led the way for NDC with nine digs, while
Tawnia Almaraz added seven.
The Falcons are in action again on Friday, Nov. 2, when they engage in another road match, against Rio Grande. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
