The loss for the Falcons (4-21) was their 10th in a row, and leaves them looking for their victory since Sept. 29. The victory for Cedarville (24-5) marked their fourth in their last five games, and completed a two-game sweep of the Falcons this season.
The Falcons hung with the Yellow Jackets earl on in the first set. The contest was tied at 5-5, before Cedarville went on a 4-0 run to take the lead for good. The Falcons would get as close as three (14-11), but Cedarville closed out the set with an 11-4 run on their way to a 25-15 victory.
Cedarville maintained control through most of the second set, but the Falcons remained close early on. NDC was trailing, 15-13, when the Yellow Jackets hit their stride, and scored eight out of the next 10 points to pull away in a 25-16 second set victory.
NDC was strong at the start of the third set, and actually held a 9-8 advantage, until Cedarville caught fire, and scored six consecutive points to take the lead. The big run by Cedarville still wasn't enough to completely put NDC away, as the Falcons rallied to tie the game at 15-15. The Yellow Jackets would return the favor, scoring six out of the next seven points, and went on to win the final set, 25-20.
Notre Dame hit .111 on the evening, and they were led by senior Kristin Hill, who had five kills.
Suzanne Morris delivered the second most kills on the evening for NDC with four, while hitting .250
Chandler Mass contributed with 12 assists to go along with a kill a block and a dig.
Magenta Tygret and
Tawnia Almaraz led the Falcons with five digs a piece, while
Brittany Perrott,
Kelsey Swords and
Angela Bush added three kills each.
The Falcons are in action again on Saturday, Oct. 27, when they hit the road for a battle with Central State. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
