The loss for the Falcons (4-20) was their ninth in a row, and leaves them looking for their victory since Sept. 29. The victory for Tiffin (8-14) snapped a brief, two-game slide, and completed a two-game sweep of the Falcons this season.
The opening set was extremely close early on. The Falcons and Dragons were tied at 7-7, before the Dragons scored the next four points to take a lead they would not surrender. The Falcons remained close, and eventually closed the gap to one (18-17) before the Dragons closed the set with a 6-1 run in a 25-19 victory.
Both teams traded a pair of big runs in the second set, which went back and forth. The Falcons were up early, 9-3, and appeared to be on their way to tying the match. However, the Dragons came storming back, and eventually took a 13-12 advantage. NDC responded, and went on a 7-1 run to take a 19-14 lead. The Dragons caught fire again, and outscored the Falcons 11-3 the rest of the way to take the second set, 25-22.
Notre Dame trailed most of the final set, before they came roaring back. The Dragons led by as many as four on multiple occasions, and held a 22-18 lead, before Notre Dame came back to tie the set at 23-23. Neither side was able to create separation for the next 14 points, until the Dragons finally put NDC away in an extended, 31-29 final.
The Falcons are in action again on Friday, Oct. 26, when they hit the road for a battle with Cedarville. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
