Box Score ASHLAND, Ohio -- The Notre Dame Falcons ended their six game losing streak on Sunday afternoon, as they battled to a 2-2 draw against Ashland.
For the Falcons (3-11-1, 2-8-1 GLIAC) the draw brought an end to a season worst, six game slide, however still leaves them looking for their first win since Sept. 23. The draw for the Eagles (6-10-1, 5-6-1) snapped a two game winning streak, but extended their unbeaten streak to three.
The two goal performance marked the most goals in a game for NDC, since their last victory against Malone, where they scored three times.
NDC jumped on the board in the 22nd minute, when Alex DeFilippo found the back of the net, kicking sending the ball over Ashland goalie Rebecca Plescia's head. The Falcons found themselves ahead by a pair, about 11 minutes later. DeFilippo factored into this score as well, as she assisted
Lauren Acker, who scored her seventh goal of the season.
The lead held until the Eagles caught fire in the second period. The Eagles got on the board less than 30 seconds into the second half, and they tied the game in the 79th minute on a goal from Allison Richards.
The Falcons had one final chance to score in the 109th minute, but Plescia made a save on a
Lauren Kobylik shot with 44 seconds remaining to secure the tie.
On the afternoon, the Eagles outshot the Falcons, 28-7. NDC goalkeeper
Kristy Kolschetzky had an incredible afternoon, making 14 saves along the way, including six in overtime.
The Falcons will finish the season next weekend with a pair of home games. First up for the Falcons next weekend is Ferris State (Mich.) on Friday, Oct. 26 at Korb Field. The start time has not been announced.
