The six game skid for Notre Dame (4-17) ties their longest of the season, while the victory for Fairmont State (16-5) was their tenth in a row, and their fifth in a row away from home.
NDC opened the match with a 25-17 loss in the first set, and rallied for a 25-21 victory to even the score in the second set. Notre Dame put up an incredible fight against the red hot Fighting Falcons in the final two sets but came up short. NDC fell 25-23 in the third set, before Fairmont took the final set, 25-22.
Notre Dame freshmen
Angela Bush led the way for the Falcons offensively with 11 kills on the afternoon. Bush also had eight total blocks, including four solo blocks.
Brianne Schmansky and
Suzanne Morris both had eight kills in the contest as well. Schmanksy had four total blocks as well.
Chandler Mass delivered 37 assists to go along with five digs.
Tawnia Almaraz added 11 digs on the afternoon as well, while
Kelsey Swords had nine.
The Falcons are in action again on Tuesday, Oct. 16, when they hit the road for a matchup with the Fighting Scots of Edinboro (Pa.). The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
